About Annapurna Conservation Area

The Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) is the largest protected area in Nepal, covering 7,629 sq km and home to over 100,000 residents across diverse ethnic communities. It encompasses the entire Annapurna range and serves as the umbrella for Nepal's most popular treks including the Annapurna Circuit, ABC, Ghorepani-Poon Hill, and Khopra Ridge. The ACA was a pioneering model for community-based conservation, where local communities manage tourism and conservation. The area contains 1,226 plant species, 102 mammals, 474 birds, and 39 reptile species.
