Chandragiri Hills offers one of the best panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan range, easily accessible by cable car from Thankot on the western edge of Kathmandu. The hilltop features the historic Chandragiri temple, a viewpoint with views stretching from Dhaulagiri to Everest, and modern visitor facilities. It is believed that King Prithvi Narayan Shah surveyed the Kathmandu Valley from this very hilltop before conquering it.
