About Khaptad National Park
Khaptad National Park in far-western Nepal is a unique high-altitude plateau covered with rolling grasslands, oak and conifer forests, and pristine streams at 3,000m elevation. Unlike Nepal's other national parks, Khaptad's beauty lies in its gentle, pastoral landscape rather than dramatic peaks. The park was championed by the revered Khaptad Baba, a Hindu saint who lived here for decades. The park is home to 266 bird species, Himalayan black bears, leopards, and wild boar. The Khaptad Daha (lake) and Tribeni sacred site add spiritual significance.
