About Marpha

Marpha is a beautifully preserved Thakali village in the Mustang district, often called the Apple Capital of Nepal. The village's immaculate white-washed stone buildings, narrow flagstone alleys, and underground drainage system reflect centuries of Thakali architectural ingenuity. Marpha is famous for its apple orchards, apple brandy (raksi), dried apple products, and cider. Set at 2,670m in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, the village enjoys an unusually dry and sunny climate for Nepal.
