About Birgunj

Birgunj is Nepal's most important border city and the busiest trade point between Nepal and India. Located directly opposite the Indian city of Raxaul, Birgunj handles the majority of Nepal's imports and is a major industrial center. The city features the Ghadiarwa Devi Temple, Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar), and bustling markets that reflect the Terai's distinct multicultural identity. Birgunj is now connected to Kathmandu via the newly constructed Hulaki Highway and is the southern terminus for many travelers. The Parsa National Park is nearby.
