About Halesi Mahadev

Halesi Mahadev is one of the most sacred cave temple complexes in eastern Nepal, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva hid in this cave from the demon Bhasmasur, making it a major Shiva pilgrimage site. Buddhists believe Guru Padmasambhava meditated here on his way to Tibet. The cave complex features three main caverns with natural stalactite and stalagmite formations that resemble Hindu deities. During Shivaratri, thousands of devotees visit from Nepal, India, and beyond.
