About Muktinath Temple
Muktinath is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, located at 3,710m in the Mustang district. The temple complex contains 108 water spouts (dhara) from which holy water flows, a sacred flame fed by natural gas, and the Vishnu temple. For Hindus, it is one of the 108 Divya Desams (holy abodes of Lord Vishnu), while Buddhists consider it a place of salvation. The dramatic setting against the barren Mustang landscape and snow-capped peaks makes it visually spectacular.
