About Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is the nearest national park to Kathmandu, protecting the watershed that supplies drinking water to the capital. The park covers the forested hills north of the valley and offers excellent day hiking with panoramic Himalayan views from its highest point, Shivapuri Peak (2,732m). It is a haven for birdwatchers with over 300 bird species and also contains the Budhanilkantha temple and Nagi Gompa nunnery.
