About Namo Buddha
Namo Buddha is one of the three most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal, along with Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. Perched on a forested hilltop at 1,750m, this sacred site marks the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, a young prince sacrificed his body to feed a starving tigress and her cubs - an act of supreme compassion that later inspired Prince Siddhartha Gautama. The Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery here is one of the largest Buddhist monasteries outside Tibet, housing monks from across the Himalayan region.
