About Pharping

Pharping is a sacred town on the southern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. For Buddhists, it is one of the most important sites in Nepal - Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) achieved enlightenment here in the Asura Cave, and his handprint and footprint are preserved in the rock. The Dakshinkali Temple, one of Nepal's most active Hindu temples, is nearby. The Pharping area also features the Vajra Yogini Temple, Shesh Narayan Temple, and several Buddhist monasteries, making it a compact pilgrimage circuit.
