About Narayanhiti Palace Museum
Narayanhiti Palace Museum is the former royal palace of Nepal's Shah dynasty, converted into a public museum after the monarchy was abolished in 2008. The imposing pagoda-styled palace was built in 1970 and served as the residence of Nepal's kings until King Gyanendra's departure. The museum preserves the royal halls, throne room, banquet hall, and private chambers exactly as they were left, offering a fascinating glimpse into Nepal's royal history. The palace grounds also house the site of the 2001 royal massacre, one of the most tragic events in Nepal's modern history.
