About Singha Durbar
Singha Durbar (Lion Palace) is one of the largest palace complexes in Asia and the seat of Nepal's government. Built in 1908 by Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher Rana in a neoclassical European style, the palace originally had over 1,700 rooms and 17 courtyards. After the fall of the Rana regime in 1951, it became the government secretariat. Though much of it was destroyed by fire in 1973, the restored facade remains one of Kathmandu's most impressive architectural landmarks. The building houses the Prime Minister's office, Parliament secretariat, and several ministries.
